Congrats to everyone who made this ride and to the two finishers – Doug and Jeff! Even with wet weather the night before the Imogene, Telluride/Deep Creek, and Lost Dollar Road sections were in primo condition. However, the sight of thouse dark thunderclouds forming did make it easy for Ryan, Danny, and Matt to decide to roll down into Ridgway – and we got drenched before we even hit town. This route is a blast and I can’t wait for 2011 to give it a try!
Doug Byerly – 11:05
Jeff Hemperley (SS) – 11:44
Danny Power, DNF via Ridgway
Ryan Douglas, -DNF via Ridgway
Matt Turgeon, DNF via Ridgway

Just a reminder that if you register and can’t make it, please do sign out on the registration page. We do understand the wet weather made a few people hesitant – but note that much of this ride was in preimo condition due to the wet weather! It is all part of the challenge and congrats again to the two people who finished the ride – and especially to Doug for “owning” his back yard territory.
See everyone in 2011 at the MFSL!
Imogene Pass is open as of last week.
Wow! Another stellar epic endurance ride. The hike-a-bike seemed much more severe than last year and slower. The rains didnt start this year until we were deep into the Dallas Trail System which made for slow moving at times when the wheels would not move at all in the clay. The hike-a-bikes seemed to take forever; esp the hike to the summit of Wilson Creek. Dang that was tough. Doug was off the front flying solo after dropping us at the top of Imogene Pass to finish in 12 hours. TR and I were together with Paul off and on like a yo-yo hanging in there to finish with us at 13 hours 22 minutes. Thomas Ray was towing the back doing his own pace with some un-needed wrong turns to add to his overall enduro experience and finish not too long after us and before dusk set in. Amazing we had 8 out of 9 finishers and the Andrew Black group finishing at 12.25am. Epic adventure for all.
Here are the results for the 2011 MFSL:
8 Finishers
Doug Byerly-12:00
Jeff Hemperley (SS)-13:22
TR Larsen (SS)-13:22
Paul Adams-13:22
Thomas Ray-13:35 ? (correct me if this is incorrect)
Andrew Black-17:55
Brian Gonert-17:55
Matt Waldheim (SS)-17:55
DNF-Clay Chiles (SS) bailed at West Dallas and hitched back to Ouray
*SS indicates single speed (aka badass)
Congrats to the 9 that started and a big huge kudos to the 8 finishers.

Fantastic route around Sneffels. The Dallas Creek finale’ truly pushed the limits. Leisurely AM sit-down with burritos and espresso in T-ride seemed a distant memory as pernicious wet clay/grass locked up the wheels under cover of dark. Big thanks to Andrew and Brian from NM for keeping it sane on the long descent to 550. A memorable day on the bike all around.
